BROOKS KIRKLAND NAMED VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AT DAYTON AREA CHAPTER’S 89TH ANNUAL MEETING & VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION LUNCHEON
Dayton, Ohio, March 28, 2006 – MARCH IS RED CROSS MONTH. Brooks Kirkland of Xenia has been awarded the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross’ prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award. He received the award at the organization’s 89th Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held on March 28, 2006.
Kirkland was also recognized as the Greene County Service Center’s Volunteer of the Year. He serves as Chair of the Greene County Disaster Action Team and is a member of the Service Center’s Advisory Committee.
Bruce Benedict of Dayton was named NCR-E.J. McHugh Board Member of the Year. The award is given to a member of the Chapter’s Board of Directors who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and service throughout the year.
The Chapter also presented its Carl B. Eschbach Award to Russ Hollis of Beavercreek. The award is bestowed on volunteers who have unselfishly given long-term service to the local, national or international community in support of the Red Cross.
Dr. Robert Dean, Edward McHugh, Nancy Michaud, Anita Rankin, Walter Schaller and Ken Schriber were named Director Emeritus in recognition of his many years of outstanding service and leadership on behalf of the Red Cross.
