RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS AT DAYTON V.A. CENTER ON MEMORIAL WEEKEND
May 24, 2007 - On Memorial Day weekend, May 25, 26 & 27, the Red Cross will have the Emergency Response Vehicle at the WALK WITH GIANTS: Memorial Day At Home festival on the grounds of the Dayton VA Center (formerly the Soldiers Home). This is a festival held annually by the American Veterans Heritage Center and the Dayton VA Center. Our volunteers (in teams of 2) will man the vehicle for 4-hour shifts and pass out brochures, giveaways, coloring books, etc.
On Saturday, May 26th, our Mass Care Feeding Team will be cooking and serving a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. in Building 305 at the Dayton VA.
The food for the breakfast is being donated by Bob Evans on Byers Road. The breakfast is being served in conjunction with a 5K Fun Run. Anybody can register for the run and the breakfast is included with the registration fee. Anyone can purchase a breakfast for $5.00 (all proceeds going to the American Veteran Heritage Center for preservation of the historical buildings).
