FRAN O’SHAUGHNESSY PROMOTED TO CHIEF EMERGENCY SERVICES OFFICER
November 30, 2005 - The Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has announced that Fran O’Shaughnessy has been promoted to Chief Emergency Services Officer. In addition to supervising the Chapter’s disaster preparedness and response operations, O’Shaughnessy will also oversee the Chapter’s two Emergency Housing Programs.
The Dayton Area Chapter helps close to 1,000 people per year in local disasters and educates more than 4,000 people per year about disaster preparedness. The Emergency Housing Programs house more than 70 families at any one time.
O’Shaughnessy joined the Dayton Area Chapter in 1989 as Director of the Greene County Service Center. In 1994 she became Major Gifts Officer and in 1996 she served the Chapter as a disaster volunteer while pursuing other professional interests. She rejoined the Chapter in 2000 as Director of Disaster Services, then she was named Director of Emergency Services in 2001.
