DAYTON AREA CHAPTER  HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER 
RECOGNIZED WITH TOP REGIONAL RED CROSS AWARD

Dayton, Ohio, December  7 , 2007  –   American Red Cross, Dayton Area Chapter Health and Safety Director Susan Sparks has been named the 2007 Great Lakes Service Area Employee Excellence Award Winner in the Management category.  Ms. Sparks was selected from a competitive field of peers as the top management performer in a region including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky.  

Counted among Ms. Sparks accomplishments was the development of one of the most comprehensive marketing plans in the nation for Health and Safety programs , and for increasing Chapter revenues during her two years on the job. Under her guidance, the Dayton Area Chapter has became one of the top facilitators of  Automated External Defibrilators (AED) placement in area businesses and public buildings. She is also  responsible for the  development of the Waddles the Duck aquatics program mascot. 

With this recognition,  Ms. Sparks will be considered for the National Employee Excellence Award to be given during the American Red Cross Convention in Baltimore in March. 

Susan Sparks is a lifelong resident of Beavercreek and resides there with her husband, Phil.  With Red Cross for nearly six years, and Director of Health and Safety for three years.                 


 
The Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provides disaster preparedness and response, and health and safety education to residents of Preble, Montgomery and Greene counties, as well as assistance to families with members in the military.  The Chapter also operates Emergency Housing Programs in Montgomery and Greene counties. Led by volunteers, the Dayton Area Chapter responded to nearly 200 disaster incidents last year.  The Dayton Area Chapter is a United Way agency.  
 
All local Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.  You can help the victims of area disasters by making a financial gift to the Dayton Area Chapter, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.  Contributions may be sent to: The American Red Cross, Dayton Area Chapter  P.O.
