The Associate Board
assists the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross in fulfilling
its mission. The mission is
to help the community prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
The Associate Board
provides an opportunity for professionals interested in learning more
about Red Cross programs and services to develop future leadership skills
and experience. This is achieved through a “ground-up” approach in
designing and completing one major fundraising event annually.
Through their commitment
to volunteerism members will create personal relationships with other
Dayton area professionals. The
Associate Board members make a three-year commitment to volunteer their
time and talent to increase Red Cross awareness, enlist volunteers and
raise funds in support of the Red Cross. The Associate Board allows young professionals to build rewarding
relationships, develop leadership skills and network with local businesses
and organizations.
The major fundraising event that the Associate Board
produces is the Great Escape. It
generates proceeds that are used to serve people in Montgomery, Preble and
Greene counties through emergency services, health and safety programs and
services, emergency housing programs and the emergency food bank.
The programs that are
benefited by the funds raised through the Associate Board are part of the
Dayton Area Chapter’s must, should and may services. These services include Disaster, Armed Forces Emergency Services,
Health and Safety training, Emergency Food Bank, Emergency Housing
programs and operational costs of these programs and services. Safeguarded in advance by the generosity of donors and volunteers,
these services make up the Red Cross emergency support system.
