Youth Services
The Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross Youth Crew gives teens ages 14 to 17 the opportunity to help out their community. Red Cross youth volunteers can be assigned Individual Placements, serve as members of the Youth Disaster Action Team (YDAT), participate in group projects or serve as Youth Crew members. All year round, teens can also volunteer as part of the Youth Program. Volunteers ages 18 & up who would like to support youth involvement are needed as mentors and/or drivers for Youth Crew and YDAT.
Individual Placement allows you to take advantage of your afternoon hours and volunteer in a specific Red Cross department.
Youth Crew members meet each month to plan and work on a variety of community service projects, which include, participating in CPR-first aid, manning a booth at Health and Safety Day, distributing fire brochures, preparing meals at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Fischer House and educating your community on the mission of the Red Cross.
Special Group Projects allow your church group, school classes, or other youth organization to volunteer for one-time projects such as bulk mailing, newsletter collating or fundraising for ARC.
The Youth Disaster Action Team gives you the opportunity to work with the Red Cross Disaster Services Department in providing emergency assistance to residents affected by disaster in the Dayton Area Chapter service area. This includes helping with shelter operations, providing mass care and conducting damage assessments. To become a YDAT member, additional Red Cross training is required and is provided free of charge.
